\section{\TeX\ Extended Font Standard}
On November 1st, Michael Ferguson (coordinator for Multilingual
Activities) announced that the \TeX\ Extended Text Font encoding proposed at
Cork had been unanimously approved by the representatives of the major \TeX\
groups. It remains to put the standard into a form which is sufficiently
detailed so that it can be propogated into the archives and serve as a basis for
\MF\ designers to make it into reality. 

\section{Changes in Providence}
Ray Goucher, for many years the embodiment of TUG to the world, has left the
Providence office and a new Executive Director is being sought. Ray is to be
given honorary membership of TUG in recognition of his stalwart and extensive
services to the organisation.  All who know Ray will wish him well for the
future. His will be a hard act to follow.
